Sometimes it doesn’t have a health headline or a health-focused lead. But every story is either a cause or an effect of something related to public health, says Erica Hensley, investigative reporter Mississippi Today.
In June, alumna Elizabeth Fite broke news about a vote of no confidence in Kevin Spiegel, CEO of Erlanger Health System, the nation’s 10th largest hospital, located in Chattanooga, Tenn. A few months later, he stepped down from his post.
“Experience has been the best teacher for helping me figure out what I do and don’t want to do, as well as honing my craft of writing and communicating,” said Aaron Hale, associate editor for UGA’s Georgia Magazine.
“I felt that it was essential to learn how to do videos and multimedia, especially animation, because it was a way to convey ideas easier,” said Hyacinth Empinado, a multimedia producer with Boston-based STAT News.
